Classes Canceled at Adams City High School Today | Sept. 21, 2022

Fire alarm red light

Dear Adams 14 Parents and Guardians,

Last evening, a threat of violence against Adams City High School circulated on social media. Adams 14 takes all threats of violence seriously and immediately began an investigation with the assistance of the Commerce City Police Department (CCPD). After assessing the situation, district leadership made the decision to cancel all classes today, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Adams City High School. This closure allows for the Commerce City Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and our administrative team to conduct a full and thorough investigation of the incident.

The threat against Adams City High School is isolated. No other Adams 14 schools have received threats. Per our district safety protocol, additional district personnel and police will have an increased presence throughout the district to ensure the safety of both our students and staff.

Please take this opportunity to speak with your student about the dangers of making a threat to use a weapon or bringing a weapon of any kind to school. All weapons are strictly prohibited on school property by any person with the exception of law enforcement professionals. The district will work with all local and federal agencies to prosecute any and all individuals who make a threat to the maximum extent of the law. We have a no tolerance policy for any behavior that jeopardizes the safety of our students and staff.

The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. If anyone has any information or questions about these or other threats, please feel free to contact me, CCPD, or Safe2Tell (877-542-7233).

To ensure that you are receiving all information in a timely manner, please make sure your contact information in Infinite Campus is updated.

As additional information becomes available, the district will communicate updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or the front office staff.

Dr. Karla Loría
Adams 14 Superintendent
