Dear Adams 14 Community,
I’m excited about this Homecoming game on Saturday! It’s been great seeing staff and students joining in on the celebration through Spirit Week. We have got a full schedule planned for Saturday!
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the Adams 14 Board of Education will hold its regular meeting and a community forum regarding the board member vacancy. The board meeting will be held in the Adams City High School auditorium (7200 Quebec Parkway) and will begin at 6 p.m. The community forum for the board vacancy will start afterwards at 7:15 p.m.
And finally, I would like to remind all of our students that attendance matters. October Count takes place Sept. 26 through Oct. 11. During this time period, schools report daily to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) on the number of students that attend school, and these numbers help ensure funding for several programs, meals, counselors, and many more important resources. The Colorado Rapids is hosting a fundraising event to support the Adams 14 Education Foundation!
The community is invited to attend the Colorado Rapids match on Oct. 1, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Dicks Sporting Goods Park (6000 Victory Way, Commerce City). $5 of each ticket purchased through this link will go back toward the Adams 14 Education Foundation.

The Colorado Department of Education wants to hear from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) parents/families across the state to gain a better understanding of their needs and how the state can better support their children. Below are the session dates and times. All sessions will be held virtually, and registration closes two weeks before the event.

Garden Talk with WIC (Fridays, Sept. 16, 23 & 30 | 9-11 a.m.)
Join staff from the Tri-County Health Department WIC Program at the Anythink Commerce City community garden to enjoy a morning of gardening. Gardening will begin at 9 am, and the garden information session will begin at 10 am. Attendees are welcome to take home any harvest. Please bring water and your own gardening gloves, if able. Program will be held outside. Please note that this program may be canceled due to inclement weather. Check the event on our website for cancellation notices. No advanced registration necessary.
Pop-Up Studio at Anythink Commerce City (Friday, Sept. 16 | 1-5 p.m.)
The Studio at Anythink is guided by the philosophy that customers of all ages thrive when they discover and follow their passions, collaborate with others, and become creators. Join Anythink’s Studio team to explore and create using different technology and tools each month. Appropriate for all ages. No advanced registration necessary.
Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off Celebration (Saturday, Sept. 17 | 2-4 p.m.)
Join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month to honor and recognize the achievements and contributions of our Hispanic American community. Enjoy live entertainment from local folklorico dancers and mariachi musical performances as well as fun cultural games. Food and beverages will be provided.

Kids and Teens Café (Tuesdays – Fridays | 3:30-4:30 p.m.)
Swing by for a free, nutritious snack sponsored by the Food Bank of the Rockies. Available for ages 18 and under, while supplies last. No advanced registration necessary.

Deaf Awareness Week: Watch Party (Thursday, Sept. 29 | 4:30-5:30 p.m.)
Join us for a screening of a groundbreaking TV series about two teenage girls who were switched at birth. One grew up in a wealthy family, and the other grew up deaf in a working-class neighborhood with a single mother. Closed Captioning (CC) will be available. Refreshments will be provided. Appropriate for ages 14 to 17. No advanced registration necessary.
Adult Programs
Drop-In Tech Help (Saturdays, Sept. 17 | 10-11 a.m. | Tuesdays, Sept. 13 & 27 | 5-6 p.m.)
Drop in for one-on-one help with any tech device, and pick up some tips and troubleshooting support. Assistance is offered on a first come, first served basis. No advanced registration necessary.
“¡Qué Viva la Raza!” Documentary Screening with The Denver Office of Storytelling
(Saturday, September 24 | 12:30-2:30 p.m.)
Join us for a special documentary watch party with The Denver Office of Storytelling. The 32-minute documentary “¡Qué Viva la Raza! Honoring a Denver Legacy” is an overview of the more than 150-year history of the Mexicano, Chicano and Latino people in Denver, highlighting historic images and preserving the voices and stories of Denver’s Latino community.
