COVID-19 Response Dial

This week, the district is in the yellow zone, which requires every student, staff member, and visitor to wear a face covering. The COVID-19 Response Dial and protocol takes into consideration the community COVID-19 vaccination rate, the Adams 14 employee and student COVID-19 vaccination rate, and our community COVID-19 transmission rate. The Adams 14 COVID-19 Response Dial and protocol will vary based on the aforementioned data, and our response will be clearly articulated in a Green Zone, Yellow Zone, and Red Zone.

COVID-19 Protocol for 2021-2022

Adams 14 has partnered with the Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) to develop a swift response when notified of a positive COVID-19 case or symptomatic individual in the community. The following information outlines the district’s COVID-19 response process.

  1. The building health clerk and/or attendance liaison contacts the student or family member regarding symptoms, onset date, vaccination status, last day at school, and any known exposure to someone positive for COVID-19.
  2. A member of the health team provides direction (directly or via supervisor) to the individual regarding the next steps. The next steps could include:
    1. Isolation due to positive test or symptoms
    2. When to get tested
    3. When to return to work or school
    4. Monitor and wait for test results
  3. If the individual has positive test results, known symptomatic exposures, or an exposure while unvaccinated, then the health team will send a written notification to the individual with isolation or quarantine guidance and return-to-work/school dates.
  4. An evaluation of whether other individuals were exposed will be conducted. This evaluation is based on such factors as how long the individual was at work/school, whether they complied with mask-wearing requirements, and if they were vaccinated. If multiple staff/students have been exposed, the health team will work with the building lead/department head and the district’s communications department to notify those individuals.

The Adams 14 COVID-19 Response Team consults TCHD for atypical cases to determine the need and length of time to isolate and quarantine. Please assist the Adams 14 COVID-19 Response Team by sharing documentation of all COVID-19 test results.

  • Isolation: staying home from work, school, and activities when a person is sick or diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • Quarantine: staying home from work, school, and activities after an unvaccinated person was in close contact with someone with COVID-19 or TCHD or Colorado Department of Health and Environment exposure criteria are met. If a person develops symptoms of COVID-19 during their quarantine period, they would begin isolation.
  • Exposed: When an individual meets the standard for exposure based on TCHD guidance. Factors may include:
    • Being within 3 to 6 feet of an infected person for more than 15 minutes within a 24-hour period, masked or unmasked
    • Participating in a high-risk activity (contact sports or after-school club activities, such as band, choir, etc.)
    • Wearing a mask or not
    • Vaccination status

Every Student Counts: Stay Cool. Go to School.

October Count takes place Sept. 24-Oct. 8, 2021. During this time period, schools report daily to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) on the number of students that attend school. The CDE uses this information to allocate funding for school districts based on the reported number of students attending school during this time period. We are counting on all of our students to attend school daily! For more information, visit
