Adams County School District 14 serves Commerce City and parts of unincorporated Adams County, Colorado. Within the boundaries of the school district there are two preschools, seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one comprehensive high school and one alternative high school. The district’s 6,100 students are highly diverse and a substantial majority face socioeconomic and language challenges at rates well above state averages. The nearly 900 employees at Adams 14 work each day to provide an inclusive learning environment for all students and are committed to inspiring, educating and empowering Adams 14 students to succeed.
Adams 14 has partnered with JG Consulting to recruit candidates to serve as the Superintendent.
The Superintendent must possess a track record of successfully seeking and implementing best practices to maximize the achievement of the entire organization with an emphasis on raising the academic growth of all students. The new leader will also demonstrate expertise implementing best practices in the multicultural, multilingual instructional practices necessary for successful turnaround work. The Superintendent must have exemplary communication skills and proven abilities to manage complex relationships with diverse stakeholders.
We appreciate you joining us for today’s Adams 14 Board of Education Special Meeting where Dr. Karla Loría was unanimously appointed as the next Adams 14 Superintendent.
Dr. Loría is currently the Chief Academic Officer for the Clark County School District, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the fifth largest school district in the United States. She has over 30 years of experience in education, with 20 years in school- and district-level leadership positions, including in Colorado. Dr. Loría has a proven track record of successful turn-around experience in several districts throughout the United States.
Dr. Loría emerged from an extensive search process that started four months ago. In partnership with our search firm, JG Consulting, and the Adams 14 community, a comprehensive leadership profile identifying the characteristics and traits of the next superintendent was created, based on input received from Adams 14 students, teachers, staff, parents, and other community members at numerous public forums.
“I am very excited and feel incredibly blessed to have been selected to serve as your next superintendent of schools. I believe great things lie ahead of the district, the community, and all of us: Team Adams 14, “ said Dr. Loría. “I anticipate joining the community very soon and getting busy reaching out to all stakeholders, listening to what is on their minds, and working collaboratively to ensure our students receive the high-quality education they deserve. As Team Adams 14, our focus will be to have a Kids-First agenda, to be responsive to our student’s needs, and to be accountable for our actions. Thank you, Adams County School District 14 Board of Education, for the opportunity. I am honored to join Team Adams 14: Kids First!”
“We are so grateful to our community for all of their engagement and work in helping us to develop the incredible profile that led us through to the final selection of our next superintendent,” said Adams 14 Board of Education President Ramona Lewis. “We had a wonderful candidate pool and a rigorous and thoughtful search process. I believe with all my heart that Dr. Karla Loría will serve our district and most of all, the students with honor and distinction.”
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Loría to Team Adams 14! She will begin her service to the district on July 2, 2021. Please stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
